The transport ship Hayasui in Japanese, is a large transport vessel of the Japanese Navy. Following the disastrous defeat at the Battle of Midway and Japan's lack of early warning capabilities, Japan decided to mount aircraft catapults originally developed for submarines onto oil tankers to carry attack aircraft on board. However, in reality, this vessel primarily functioned as a transport ship throughout the war.
