Background: 
The V-22 is an American tilt-rotor aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing and short takeoff and landing capabilities. In appearance it is similar to a fixed-wing aircraft, but with two rotating engines at the wingtips driving two rotors. In fixed-wing form, the V-22 looks like an airplane with two oversized propellers on each wingtip, and in helicopter form it is a helicopter with two small rotor blades. This gives it the vertical lift capability of a helicopter, but with the advantages of high speed, long range and low fuel consumption of a fixed-wing propeller aircraft.
