The locomotive has a sci-fi appearance, with a side-sloping nose that allows the train to move forward with minimum resistance, headlights for illumination on the top and sides, and a smooth body that allows it to run faster on the track.

Background: The story takes place aboard Snowpiercer, which travels in orbit around the Earth, carrying the last survivors of humanity's creation of a new Snowball Earth after climate engineering efforts to stop global warming failed.
