The V-22 Osprey is a unique aircraft in the US with vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities. In appearance, it resembles a fixed-wing aircraft, but it features two tilting rotors at the wingtips. In the fixed-wing configuration, the V-22 appears as an aircraft with two large propellers on each side. In helicopter mode, it functions as a helicopter with two smaller rotors. This allows the V-22 to combine the vertical takeoff and landing capabilities of a helicopter with the high-speed, long-range, and fuel-efficient advantages of a fixed-wing propeller aircraft.
