MOC-161783 1/2000 Scale New York City Skyline 1930's Building Blocks

Authorized and designed by Taters. The model is based on the New York City skyline in the 1930s.

This is Taters's version of the New York City Skyline but as it was in the 1930's with some of the most iconic buildings such as the Woolworth building and the freshly completed Empire State Building and Chrysler building.Booming with activity we see the newly-built ocean liners SS Normandie and RMS Queen Mary docked next to Cunard White Star's Pier 54 with the Statue of Liberty in the background and the Staten Island Ferry in the foreground.Also included are some classic buildings which were demolished or renovated like the Singer Building, the original Penn Station, and One times Square located. All being next to the NYC Elevated Subway spanning all the way over the Brooklyn Bridge is today is only used by cars and pedestrians.

A view of the downtown skyline in the 1930s as it reached its peak following the stock market surge of the “Roaring Twenties” and the October 1929 crash. Most high-rise building projects continued after Black Tuesday until 1930, but as the recession deepened into the Great Depression in 1932, new skyscrapers did not begin to be built in Lower Manhattan until the 1950s.
