The CH-118 served primarily in search and rescue, medical evacuation, transport, and general support roles, rather than as an armed combat helicopter. Its familiar single-rotor silhouette and practical utility design made it one of the most recognizable helicopters in Canadian service during the late 20th century.

Designed from aircraft plans, the model combines an accurate exterior profile with a detailed cabin. Some internal elements that are completely hidden after construction may use varying colors to simplify part sourcing without changing the finished exterior.
